2017 Vegetable Garden

It’s July and Summer is in full swing, so let me tell you about my vegetable garden this year.  So far, it is really looking good.  I used a new fertilizer this year and the results are outstanding.

I found this at my local Home Depot store.  I sprinkled it into the soil first, then mixed it around.  Then I put a little more underneath each plant as I planted the vegetables.  The plants all took off immediately.  Every day I see lots of new growth on everything.  It’s great!!

Here’s a look at the some of the vegetables I planted this year.

3 Different types of Lettuce

Zucchini

Green Peppers

Green Beans

I also planted green beans and peas which I harvested and froze.  I did that because we are getting ready to go on vacation and I didn’t want them to go bad before I got back.

I will keep everyone updated with the vegetable garden progress.

The Garden Pole

This was one of those really enjoyable projects. It did take me almost a month to complete, but it was well worth it.
When I first thought to make a garden pole, I looked on Pinterest and searched the internet for different poles and how they were used.  What I saw was that basically,  anything goes.  Some had wrap around designs while others had simple stripes and polka dots.  I also saw some with lots of different bird houses attached all over the pole.  I immediately fell in love with the garden pole.  I found the idea of painting freehand very intimidating at first, but once I got started, and I realized that it didn’t have to be perfect, the creativity started to flow.  What I quickly learned is that, if I painted something that I really hated, I could wipe it off or just paint over it.  The paint over did happen several times, but I ended up with something I really love and looks great in the garden.      I have bird feeders on it now, but I do alternate between hanging plants and lanterns.
