Dining Room Table - Complete1

I love the way this looks.  The basics are in the middle with the flower arrangement and the burlap wrapped cylinder candle holders, but the bud vases on the ends will change as the flowers in my garden change.  I love bringing the outside in. These clippings are from my knock-out roses.

The base of the flower arrangement is the base that I got from my niece’s wedding.  It had beautiful fresh flowers in it for the wedding.  At the wedding, we played the game of passing a dollar around the table.  When the music stopped, the person with the dollar had to stand on a chair and dance.  After I stood on a chair and danced thinking I was going to win the centerpiece, it ended up being the person who gave you the dollar that won the arrangement. Luckily, it was my husband.

The dried flowers that are in it now are from an outdated arrangement that I had on my dining room table for 5 years.  This is only half the dried flowers, so you can imagine how big it was.  The other half, I put in my bedroom in a vase. Talk about repurpose!!!  The size and colors are perfect on this table.

The cylinder candle holders were very inexpensive.  I picked them up years ago from a discount store. For years, I have been filling them with different colored decorations at various holidays.  Red and green for Christmas, orange and black for Halloween.

What I did here was hot glue a piece of burlap around them, tucking in the end. Then tying a few strands of raffia around the middle.  You could use any kind of wire or ribbon if you don’t have the raffia.

The bud vases are also very inexpensive.  If you don’t have actual vases, use what you have.  4 drink glasses or mason jars or cleaned out cans would look perfect.   Tie on a pretty bow and fill it with whatever you have in your yard.  Flowers, herbs or just greenery would look great.  Change it up as the months move along.

Spring

Wedding Centerpiece

I know that I am a little late with this because it’s almost Summer, but I’ll say it anyway….HAPPY SPRING!!!

It has been crazy busy around here starting with Easter.   In the last 6 weeks, I had a wedding, shower, graduation, dance recital, award ceremony, 4 birthdays along with Mother’s Day and Father’s Day coming up.  I am so blessed to have such an amazing family to share my life with.

In my spare time, I’ve been trying to spruce up the house for the Summer.  The picture above is of the centerpiece from the wedding I went to. Not only were the flowers gorgeous, but wait until you see how I repurposed the base.

As far as the rest of the house goes, I didn’t do much, just some flowers here and there and moved some things from one room to another.  I find that when you use things in a different way and pair them with other things, they take on a whole new look and feel.  I’ll show you what I mean.

My vegetable garden is in full swing.  I planted the basics, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant and herbs.  I did add lettuce this year that looks great.  Everything is growing beautifully.

Take a look at the Home Decor and the Gardening tabs to see what I’ve been working on.

Peep Flower

Peep FlowersThese are so cute.  I made them with my grandchildren a few years back and we had so much fun.  They are bright and colorful.  You can get peeps in so many colors and shapes with the Easter grass to match.  What a great sight on your Easter table.

Supplies

Peeps

Paper Plates

Easter Grass

Dowel – 12 inches long

Hot Glue Gun

Stapler

Instructions

Lay one plate on a flat surface.  Glue the dowel on the plate, leaving 1 inch from the top.  There should be approximately 6-7 inches of the dowel free to put in a flower pot or vase.   Put the second paper plate exactly over the first one and glue it to the dowel.  Staple both plates together around the edges so the plates don’t move at all.

Using a hot glue gun, glue the grass on both plates, covering the entire plate.  Glue the peeps on both sides in between the grass.  Let the glue dry completely.

Display the peep flowers in a vase or flower pot.  You can vary the size of the plates to make different flowers.  This is a fun, easy craft for any age.
